Due to the coronavirus we are concentrating on our self catering studio that offers a clean safe space where we not only offer a clean healthy safe space but with its quiet location, is the ideal location for a countryside escape. Our Guest rooms in the house will be reopening in the new year.
Originally built in 1700, Durlock Lodge is situated in the historic village of Minster-in-Thanet. Opposite the beautiful old Benedictine Abbey and in a quiet location All three guest rooms within the Lodge are uniquely different, with characteristic features from old oak beams to feature fireplaces.
Adjoining the Lodge, we also offer a self-catering studio suitable for two people. With its own entrance and small garden, it is ideal for longer stays and is dog friendly.
Durlock is surrounded by farmland with a range of country walks and cycle routes. There is a railway station within five minutes’ walk. The trains go to Canterbury in 15 minutes, Ramsgate in 10 minutes or just under two hours to London. There is off road parking also available.
There is a good choice of restaurants and pubs in the village, most within a 5-10-minute walk. Highly recommended is the Award-Winning Corner House Restaurant. Well reviewed and highly acclaimed, it is a personal favourite (not just because our son owns it!). The restaurant is just a 3-minute walk away!
Within 6 miles of Minster are Broadstairs, Ramsgate and Margate offering a dynamic range of diverse attractions and activities for good weather or bad. This includes the Turner Contemporary and Dreamland in Margate, great beaches and exciting tunnels to explore in Ramsgate. The delights of Broadstairs with beautiful beaches and Bleak House, where Dickens wrote his famous novel of the same name.
The historic town of Sandwich (Royal St Georges home of the 2020 golf open, Cinque Port & Pfizers Discovery Park) has a range of pubs, restaurants, lovely cycle and walking routes, and is a great stop on route to Dover, if you fancy a visit to the castle or a day crossing to France.
